Why Nurturing Nannies? What Makes This Minnesota Nanny Agency Different

If you have been searching for a nanny agency in Minnesota, you have probably noticed that most of them look and sound pretty similar.
They all promise great candidates. They all use words like "trusted" and "vetted." And most of them send you a list of names and wish you good luck.
Nurturing Nannies is built differently. And we think you deserve to know exactly how and why it matters for your family.
We Are Not a Referral Agency
This is the most important thing to understand about how we work.
Most nanny agencies, including many of the well-known names you may have already come across, operate as referral services. They find candidates, hand them over to you, and then step back. Once that introduction is made, the caregiver becomes your employee. That means you are responsible for payroll, taxes, workers' compensation, employment paperwork, and every legal obligation that comes with being a household employer.
Most families have no idea this is what they are signing up for.
At Nurturing Nannies, we do not refer caregivers. We employ them. Your Nannie is our W2 employee. We handle payroll, taxes, workers' compensation, and Minnesota Paid Leave so that you never have to. Your Nannie is also covered under our liability insurance, giving your family an additional layer of protection.
We Are Not a Franchise
We are an independent agency, built from scratch, right here in Minnesota.
That matters because franchise agencies follow a corporate playbook. Their processes, their standards, and their decisions are shaped by a national brand and not by the families and Nannies they actually serve.
At Nurturing Nannies, every decision we make is our own. Our vetting standards, our matching process, our support model, and our values all come from one place: a genuine commitment to doing this work the right way.
Built by Someone Who Has Actually Done This Work

I am Rachel, the founder of Nurturing Nannies, and I am not a recruiter. I did not spot a market opportunity and decide to open an agency. I am a career Nannie with almost 25 years of hands-on childcare experience who built this agency because I knew families and nannies deserve better.
I have been inside the homes, managed the schedules, navigated the hard days, and built the relationships that make long-term childcare actually work. That firsthand perspective shapes everything about how Nurturing Nannies operates, from the questions we ask candidates to the way we support families long after placement day.
Every Caregiver Is Vetted Before You Ever Meet Them
We do not send you a stack of resumes and ask you to figure it out. Every single candidate goes through our rigorous 12-step vetting process before a single introduction is made.
That process includes:
Application review: work history, experience, and initial fit assessment
Phone screening: goals, communication style, and family alignment
Professional interview: caregiving philosophy and in-depth evaluation
Identity verification: SSN trace and federal records check
Comprehensive background check: national, federal, county-level, and sex offender registry
Certification verification: CPR, First Aid, and specialized training confirmed
Social media and internet screening: public conduct reviewed against our values
Professional reference checks: direct phone calls to former employers
Character reference checks: personal references assessed for values and temperament
Values and compatibility assessment: caregiving philosophy and communication style
Employee training and onboarding: agency standards, safety, and professionalism
Ongoing evaluations: regular performance check-ins after placement
No shortcuts. No exceptions.
Matching Is Personal, Not Algorithmic
We do not pull from a database and hand you whoever is available. Every search is personal.
We take the time to understand your family's values, your parenting style, your household dynamics, and what matters most to you. Then we hand-select candidates who genuinely align with what you are looking for. The goal is not just a placement. It is a long-term relationship that actually works.
Our Support Does Not End at Placement
Because we are the legal employer, we stay involved. That means regular check-ins, ongoing resources, and a team that is genuinely invested in making the relationship work long after day one.
Most agencies disappear once the contract is signed. We do not.
Our Minnesota Nanny Agency Supports Every Kind of Family
Full-service placement is not the right fit for everyone, and we respect that.
If you have already found a candidate on your own and just need help vetting, hiring, or onboarding them safely, our DIY Support section has resources, guides, and trusted partners to help you navigate the process with confidence.
Because we believe every family deserves access to good guidance, not just the ones who can afford full service.
